However he's already beginning to enjoy the results of their struggle to protect their territory, to defend the physical integrity of isolated Indians in Rondonia and for the alert about the risks caused by the construction of hydroelectric dams on the Madeira River. The projection of Almir Surui grew even more with another initiative developed by his people, the Surui Carbon Project, considered the first initiative of Brazilian indigenous Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation, the famous REDD.
